    General Database question

ny help would be greatly appreciated... I'm new to access =)

I have been asked to create a database of lab reports. I'm going to have about 7 or 8 fields.

    Lab Number
    Type of test
    Performed by
    date:

    etc..

    and also a comments field.

I'm using access 2007. I've been playning around with the program here for a few minutes. For my needs do I simply create a table with the fields and start adding data? Will the fields be searchable?

Is there a better or different way that I should be creating a database with the type of data I'm trying to organize?

Seems like a simple question but I just want to make sure before I get started... there is a lot of data and this is most likely a week long project.

There are so many options - multiple tables, forms.. etc.. just want to make sure I'm doing this right.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Look at some of the templates that come with Access or are OnLine. I'll bet you can find something close to what you want.

Ok, I've looked at the templates, and they all seemed a little to complex for what I needed. I ended up just creating one from scratch.

Its just list of lab numbers various other things... I didnt see a need for any other tables:

    Its 9 or 10 columns..

Lab number | Performed By | Report by | Type of Test | Date | Comments

    etc....

Now Ive been spending a few days filling in all the data... and my question is, how does the end user use this database?

Do they just look it up in access and look at the table? is there a way to search for something?

    thanks

If you don't want the end user to have to learn Access then you will need to provide whatever features you want them to have from your forms.
