    Append query

I am trying unsuccessfully to append records where the field name changes.

I have appended successfully in Access 2003 where the field name is unchanged but not where it changes. I'm currently getting a repetition of the new field name in the content cell, with the field name being unchanged, when I run the query.

I have quickly tried the same thing using Access 2007 with at least the same problem (I haven't actually got any records to append but maybe that's unfamiliarity with the updated app as I've only been using it for 20 minutes.

I'm attaching a screenprint of what I'm doing. What obvious thing am I not doing? The screenprint is of my query in Access 2007 but I think I'm doing it the same way as in Access 2003 (which I don't have access to this evening; the Access 2003 query is on my work computer).

    Thank you

The query should be same in 2003 and 2007.

No really understanding what you want to do.

How can you join tables on Field1 and also append records? Doesn't make sense to me. Do you really want to Update records?
How to attach file: http://www.accessforums.net/showthread.php?t=70301 To provide db: copy, remove confidential data, run compact & repair, zip w/Windows Compression.

Please reply to this thread with any new information or opinions.
