    Populate query results with data from another column

    Have a special situation that I was hoping to get some help with.

    • I have over 20 tabs of data that I am importing from Excel
    • Each tab has two key columns of data: a text name and a coding number;
      • Each name is a little different, but fits into a specific name bucket;
      • The coding number is there to "tag" each name as belonging in a certain bucket;

    • I want to run a query that will scan all my tabs, locate a specific name code in each tab and populate a new table with the text name from each tab

    What is hanging me up is not querying for the name code, but populating the new table with the corresponding text name.

    Any help would be appreciated!

    I'm not sure if I understand your basic data, but I would start at the spreadsheet, can you combine all of the data into one tab, if it all relates to each other I would, such as having a column for each, then import the whole sheet into Access and let the wizard's do the work to create the tables and the relationships, then you just query the tables for what you want.
