Smart Card error

Has anyone ever experienced an error saying that a smart card is necessary or being used by another process?

I have a few databases that are designed to retrieve the user's Windows log-in name and apply different settings in the database based on the user name and a predefined 'security' setting. All user names are already added to the database.

It's not even consisent: Some users can log on to any of the three databases without error, others can log-in to one database and experience the error, but not log-in to another database with the same security code and not experience the error. Other users cannot access any of the databases without getting the error.



I'm using this dialogue to retrieve the windows log-in name: advapi32.dll. The 'security' settings are simply adjustments to properties to enable/disable buttons and forms based on the the name and the security level (which is 1,2, or 3)...

Such a strange error. If anyone has any hints on what to look for and where it might be coming from, please let me know. Thanks so much!
