    New Blank Database

    Hi There

Im using an access database for a bit software im writing for a friend. and im now at the stage that i want to give hime the beta. the DB that im using is now full of data. is there an easy way to to copy the database and keep the structure of the database and not the data. im using auto numbers so i can't really just delete all the data as i want the auto numbers reset.

The only way i have thought to do this to copy and paste all the tables in turn and keep "Stucture Only"

this is going to take blooming ages as ive got quite a big database.

i hope someone can help out

    regards Ian

Create a new db and *import* from the old. When you are looking at the Tables tab there is a button that opens a menu that will let you just import the Structure and not the data.

One other option is to use my free Database Reset tool. It should allow you to automatically delete data from any tables you want while excluding tables you want to keep (like for predefined lookup lists). And it resets the autonumbers for the database tables which have been cleared of data.

And the best part is that you can save your definitions of which tables to clear and then if you need to use it again you can just load and go instead of having to go do all of the work again.

You can find it on my downloads page here:

As you wouldn't have needed to go fix the start options, title, etc. it would have been faster to just use my tool. But, oh well...
