    Form to supply parameters to a report

    HI

    I have created a form to supply parameters to a report. Once i open the report access opens a form that serves to collect the parameters. I enter the parameters and than access is to retrieve the information. The report comes up without any data . It only shows the labels. What i'm i doing wrong? Please help i'm new to access.

    Thank You

    Are you basing your report off a query first? If you do that and look at this video, it might help you to find your issue.

    Thank you for replying.
    Yes i'm basing my report off a query. I have watched this video before and it was very helpful. I follow the steps from this website http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/access-help/using-parameters-with-queries-and-reports-HA001117077.aspx?CTT=1&origin=EC001022704 . But it still doesn’t work.

    Ray;
    I think that the next step is to post a sanitized (no confidential material) version of your db to the forum. Tell us specifically what you are trying to do and what is not happening. Before you post your db, run a Compact and Repair to reduce the size. Also, it is not necessary to post with all data but only a sampling.

    I have created another form to supply parameters to a report. I'm using the wildcard just like on the video you sent me. When it looks up the last name the wildcard works but when i try to look up only the first name the wildcard doesn't work. I only have two text boxes Last name and first name . The only step i didn't do from the video was the indexed.

    Thank you

    Suggest you post a copy of your db so that we can review. Otherwise, we are shooting darts into the dark hoping for a bullseye.

    I think I found your issue. For all the first names except John you have a space before the first name. You will need to clean these up. You can do it with an update query using the Trim function.

    Take a look at this video on how to manipulate data using a query.
