    Caller ID

    Hi all,

I am creating a database for my business (would consider myself an intermediate access user) and would like my database to interact with my Caller ID. I have a fax voice modem hooked up to the pc and currently get the caller id display on my phone. I would like the fax/voice modem to get the caller id and automatically open that customers record. Have been messing about with 3rd party software and it shows the caller id ut cannot get it to interact with my database.

    Please Help
    Amer

these things are tough. there are articles on the ms kb site about using the COM ports to call from your computer. If you care to do research on the subject, that is the place to start.

Here is the article I read years ago when i set up an automated dialer in access using COM: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/148857

    and it came from: http://www.google.com/#sclient=psy&h...664e7e8c090ddc

    Hi Ajetrumpet,

sorry i should have said i only need it for incoming calls, i don't need it to do anything for outgoing calls. When a customer calls me i would like their number to be sent from the fax modem to the database and search for that phone number and display their record

the point, buddy, is that I don't know HOW to do it. you're asking a tough question. hence, the answer is probably not gonna be found on a forum like this. read those articles and google it.

I'm pretty sure you'll have to get involved with your computer's COM ports.

I can't help ya past this pt because I don't have the answer. good luck!
