Missing data on form

I have a form on which there is a subform which pulls up data that had been stored from an underlying table. This works fine ( the data is put into the table from a combobox on the form) except for the first record in my tables. All the other instances work as expected but when I open the form at the first record this one doesn't show the saved records for this subform (all the other data that the table has stored is shown correctly just this). Does anyone have any ideas why this is occuring.

As an addendum I know the data is stored because when I add a record the subform shows that is an extra record in the navigation bar ie 1 of 34 but no numbers show.
