Error: " is not a valid name

    Good Afternoon,

We have an Access 2003 database that resides on a server that is used by about 3 people in our office. It has some linked tables and tables that are linked to other databases.

There is a query that is routinely run in this database that has begun to give one of the users a problem. It does have a linked table in the query.

She will open the query in SQL View and it will let her. She will open the query in Datasheet View and it will open and show all the results. But when she tries to open the query in Design View, it gives her the following error:

    >>

" is not a valid name. Make sure that it does not include invalid characters or punctuation and that it is not too long.

    <<

I am using Access 2010 and do not get this error and I can open it in Design View.

We have searched and searched on the web and gone over the code and cannot figure it out.

    Any thoughts?

Thank you all for looking at this.

double check that all the tables are linked. literally count them and compare in both FEs.

and if that problem query is using another query - be sure that query is there too.

those are the symptoms you have.

NTC - the database is not split. Do you know of a reason she would get this error and I would not. And why it will let her open it in datasheet view but not design view?

BTW, I am just up the street from you in Homewood.

    well hello there Homewood !

So if it is not split then that is your issue right there.

Split the db, put an FE on users' desktop with a link to the common BE - and I think your problem will be resolved.

    Regards.
