Access 2.0 files -- reading and changing

I have a number of very old Access files ... access 2.0 to be exact. The system of entry is quite good and I don't want to mess with the reprogramming that would be required to update.

Unfortunately, Access2010 won't attach to Access 2.0, so I can't get into some of the ancillary files to change the data for a new project.

Is there a program that will attach to these files?

    Thank you

    Unhappy attaching

To attach is about the same thing as to link. It is an older use of the language. I started database programming before there was an access ... I was a beta tester for DBase 2 and Paradox and RBase 1.0. My first database was created using a McDonnell-Douglas 8 bit machine ... It was known as Revelation. I've been out of the business for about 6 years now, and my head is swimming.

    Hi

You can't link to Access 2.0 files with Access 2010. See: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/o...2-c5e0fa5f935f

You can link to Access 2.0 files with all earlier versions of Access, up to and including Access 2007. see: http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/ac...001227658.aspx
If this helped, please click the star at the bottom left of this posting and add to my reputation . Many thanks.

    Hi,

those were the times: DB2, Access 1.1 and 2.0, Revelation (that's a name I haven't heard for a long time)...

I think you can link to the tables of Access 2.0, you sure can import the tables from 2.0 to 2007/2010. You can't import the forms, reports, macro's from 2.0 or 95, but tables shouldn't be a problem.
Another link that might help you:

    Solution

    To all,

Thanks for the replies. It turns out that you cannot easily link 2.0 to 2010. MS says it can't be done ... yeah, I've heard that before. I suspect that if you rename the MDB extension, go into ODBC and setup your link thru there using the JET engine that you could do it. I also suspect that it wouldn't be worth it.

MS used to believe that if they couldn't do it with p&c through the menu system, it couldn't be done. SAS was the same way. They were usually wrong.
