Unable to make changes to database - creator has left business!!!

    Howdy.

We have a Database here at work that was created by someone that has now left the business..

Noone here is very 'Access' savvy, I know a fair bit in regards to designing a database, but nothing really around 'security'

We can open the database, but are unable to make any changes to any of the Tables/Forms/Queries etc etc...

The 'Unhide' option in the 'Window' toolbar is greyed out so cannot get into it at all.

It doesn't have a password or anything when you log in, just opens with a Form called 'Main' which is not full screen, with option buttons as to what you want to do.

How can I 'uncrack' this so that we can alter queries/tables etc??

    Any help appreciated!

(Idiot proof answers/directions/step by step 'how to'.... would be great )

    Cheers

You may have some difficulty here. How do you plan to prove to us that you have a legal right to modify this program. i.e.: do you have the source file (mdb, accdb)

    Hi Rural Guy,

    Thank you for your response

How exactly can I prove to you that I have the legal right to modify this program for the company? (Sorry, I'm just not 100% sure how I go about doing this?)

We have the Access database (.mdb) file which was created for our business back in 2001 by someone and was last modified in 2007, by someone who has since left the company. The information/data etc is owned by the company I work for, and they now need to alter a few things within the database (table data etc)...which we are unable to get into.....and unfortunately there are no Access guru's that work here (which is hard to believe in such a massive, International company!!)

Any help, or suggestions on how I can prove this to you so that you or someone can help me out would be great!

----- I have just noticed that there is a button that they have put on that you can press and it allows you to get full access to the database to modify it, but it is password protected. So I guess my question is now, how can I get into it without the password?

    Thanks

Having posession of the mdb file is pretty good proof that you own the program. Not perfect but suficient in this case. I'll send you a PM.

Can you get to the development window by opening the db while holding down a <SHIFT> key?
