We have a small business server (SBS2008) on a local network which is hosting our database back end. All of the client computers have a front end (Mix of Windows XP and 7) locally. When connecting to the database through the network the execute time for a query increases dramatically. When the front end is tested locally (copied and linked) the queries can run in less than 1 second. When they are connected to via the network the queries/reports take at least 55 seconds, sometimes longer on the same client machine. What can be done to improve performance?
