    Basic report programming question.

    I have a tabular report displaying two fields 'User' and 'Message' sorted by 'User'. My goal is to add a third field which will be a new field and count all the words in 'Message' and display an integer. I know VBA well but I don't know enough about how to use it with Access 2010. How should I do this? Thank you!

    I'm not sure if a function in a control source would work, but I would write something similar to this in vba if I had to:

    Code:
    dim i as integer

    i = ubound(split(me.message, " "))
    that will at least give you a count of a sentence or similar.
