Need Frequent Excel Imports with Primary Keys

    Hello,

I am looking to bring an Excel sheet into my database (from an outside source, that I have zero control over formatting, updates, etc.) and generate forms/reports with this information AND other information I get from other sources.

As this external Excel file is updated frequently, I am thinking that making a linked table would be the easiest method, except for the fact that I need a primary on this linked table, which I have found through researching the issue isn't possible?

The other option is to import the Excel sheet to a new Access table initially, and then run append imports on all subsequent updates of the data. However, if I take this approach, I am having difficult catching and updating entries that were present in the first import, but now have different information in some of their fields in the second import...

Does anyone have any ideas on this issue please?

I am looking for something along the very same lines. Access should have a method by which it can query a table and display changes to the user since their last viewing. I'll be interested to see if anyone has any idea's...
