Migrating from 2003 to 2010 question

    Hi,

We are about to update to Access 2010 but I saw a note on the Microsoft Web site that said Excel 2010 is required for data import. There was no additional information. Can anyone tell me if I can make Access 2010 work with Office 2003? Or do I need to update to Office 2010 also?

Is there any general advice that you can offer about migrating from 2003 to 2010? Learning curve time? Issues I may need to watch out for? Etc.

    Thanks all,
    Mike

if you don't know anything about 2010, it will take a while. The ribbon change happened in 2007, and from there a lot of the interface was changed, and new features were added.

Actually, I have my own article about this. Here they are (some say helpful, some not):

    http://databasedev.co.uk/whats_new_i...10_ribbon.html

    http://www.databasedev.co.uk/whats_n...cess_2010.html

    http://www.databasedev.co.uk/whats_n...2010_pt_2.html

as far as 10 requiring excel 10 for import, umm...I don't really believe that, but I have not tested. So you will have to if you don't find docs on that phenomenon.

Please reply to this thread with any new information or opinions.
