How to find the User Name

Just set up a password for the access database. Not able to log in. "Not a valid account name or password" pops up. 100% sure the password is correct. How do I find the "account name"? I did not set up or type any account name when setting up the password. Does access pick the default user name? If that is the case, how do I find out. Thanks.

Are you using the User Defined Security available in ac2003? If so, are you entering the db with a shortcut you created?

Thank you, RuralGuy for your quick reply. I am not sure if I am using the User Defined Security in Access 2003, or created any shortcut with the db.

All I did was "opening the Access program through a shortcut on the desktop (not the database file), go to TOOLS, SECURITY, SET DATABASE PASSWORD".

Greatly appreciate if you could advise.

I've never used ac2003 so I'm a bit out of my element here, sorry. Do you get the same results when you open the mdb while holding down a <SHIFT> key?

Hi RuralGuy. Yes, I tried the SHIFT key, and got the same pop up page asking for "log on" with Name and PASSWORD.

I am trying to set up a new database now. I got the same pop up page asking for "lon on" with Name and Password, aftering I did New file, using blank data base.

    Please help. Thanks.

    Somewhere on your system is a System.mdw file (usually \Program Files\Microsoft Office\..)
Can you create a zip file with this mdw file and your mdb file in it and then upload as an attachment to a post? If there is sensitive data then send me a PM and I'll give you my email addy for direct contact.
