Permissions for Report but not the related tables/queries

    Hello,

Is it possible to grant permissions to view a report only, but not the queries/tables from which it is derived? Currently it appears that Access will not allow a user to view a report unless the user has permissions for all of the related queries and tables it is associated with.

There is information in a single table that I need employees to see, but that same table also has information that I do not want them to see.

    Thanks in advance,
    Dan

2 approaches; User Level Security feature will do that; however this feature set overall is complicated and requires some study to implement. Plus it is in fact taken out of the Access feature set beginning with Access2007.accdb format.

Hide the Object Window - which is a start up option - and set up a user interface so they only see the options for reports in the user interface.

Note however this is only suitable for casual security and isn't a solution for if you have users with Access know how and intent to look at your data.......in which case you will want to look into a new version of Access with encryption for the tables.

    Hope this helps.
