Non programer needs help in decimal numbers

I have been trying to add fields with decimal number. Except it always rounds-off to near 10th. How do I format the field to write 1.5 and don't round off to 1. Many thanks

What type of number field do you have? Integer fields will drop the decimal value. You need single, double or maybe currency.
