Large SQL Server table linked to Access datasheet is slow to update on first update

I have a Access 2003 app that allows the user to work with SQL Server data in a datasheet view. The SQL table is linked to the Access db. When the user tries to edit/update a cell in the datasheet it is very slow the first time the table is edited. After that the updates/edits are immediate.

    Any ideas??

The SQL table contains > 2,000,000 recs.

the size might be part of it, not sure.

how are the links set up?? as in, when access starts, how is the link established and/or invoked?? with the odbc sql driver, or a file dsn, or another method?

Please reply to this thread with any new information or opinions.
