Unable to import or link tables through odbc in Access SP2

I recently upgraded Office to SP2. Now, whenever I'm in Access and I click
File...Get External Data...Link Tables... and I click on Files of Type and
select ODBC, the entire dialog box disappears. This never used to happen

when prior to upgrading to SP2. Now I can't link to any tables. Has anyone
    else run into this?

Yes, I am running Norton Antivirus 2006 and Norton Internet Security.
However, the problem still occurs even with Norton disabled. I'm wondering
if there is a problem with MDAC. I'm running the MDAC 2.8 sp 1 on Windows XP.
