    Create a New Format

    Hello All,

I have been using Access for quite a while now and many of you have helped me greatly and for that I am much appreciative.

How can I create my own format for forms and reports so that whenever I create a new one I don't have to change everything to how I want things, like font, spacing, colors, etc?

    Thanks

    Dave

    1. Make a Form or Report
    2. Set its attributes as you want
    3. Name it FormTemplate or ReportTemplate
    4. Save it

Whenever you need a new Form or Report, copy the template

    • Rename the copy to whatever is right
    • Add yours Record Sources, Fields, etc.

    MissingLinq,

That would only be available in that specific database would it? I have used that approach but I was looking for more of a Template within Access, is there a way to save them as Access Templates so that every new database would have access to them?

    Orange,

Yes it did work, and I used it with great success, but I am looking for something different here. I guess what I am asking is, is there a way to create a new Access Template style?

    Thanks

    Dave

in short, no. But you could put all your templates in a template db. Then when creating a new db, copy the template and rename

    All,

I guess what I will do is create a new database and create the templates in there and then use that as the starting point for new databases like Ajax suggests, seems to be the best way.

    Thanks

If you have existing databases that you would like to add the templates to, you can also simply import those objects (Forms, Reports) from your template database (so it isn't always necessary to start from scratch from the template database).
