Custom time formatting in report (hh:nn:ss) not being recognized.

Building a report using a pivot table from a form based on a query of race run times. In order to create a duration field, custom time formatting is used (hh:nn:ss). Query results display the results correctly however in the report the minute component is being replaced by the letter "n" for some reason. When I replace "n" with "m", it's displayed correctly until after a save, then the "n" comes back into the report. Plenty of searching here and online without a solution. I've attached a couple of screenshots. Thanks in advance.

If you format the field in the query, there should be no need to format it in the report, IF your field is a time field.
(and that property you show says text property, which could be the problem)

Forgive my noob ignorance, but where exactly does it say "text property"? I'm missing it. Also, it is a time field, however I'm trying to convert it to a duration without am/pm.
