Error message after deleting fields from a form

    Hi,

I am in the final stages of creating a database for a medical PhD project. I have a few one to many linked tables, with forms generated from them. In making a few final changes to the data points we are collecting, I deleted a few fields from the tables and forms. The first one I accidentally deleted from the table first, then the form, and started getting an error message 'Enter parameter value' 'TableName.FieldName' for the deleted field every time I then opened the form.

I was planning to ask if anyone knew how to correct this anyway, but then had to delete a few additional fields. This time I deleted them from the form first then the table, thinking that would prevent the problem, but I'm now just getting a series of the same error messages for each deleted field when I open the form.

There is no data in the database as yet, save for a couple of autonumber '1's that were immediately autogenerated.

Can anyone help? Am hoping there's a relatively simple way to solve this??!

    Thanks,

If the form is based on a saved query or SQL, the fields may need to be deleted from that. Field references can also hide in the Order By or Filter properties of the form.

Thanks for your quick response. My Access skills are exceedingly basic so don't think there's a query or SQL involved. Where do I find the Order By or Filter properties? Am probably being really blind but I can't see anything like that?

They are properties of the form. Can you attach the db here?

Don't think I can see where to attach it, but when I've opened it again this morning it seems to have fixed itself and all the messages have disappeared...makes me quite suspicious though?! When I click view properties on the form it just gives a very basic 'general' box with nothing about filters or order by and I can't see anything like that on the property sheet either.

Compact and repair may help if it happens again. Its the first button on database tools tab.

Should the need arise in the future, you can attach by clicking on Go Advanced in the quick reply area then Manage Attachments.

Are you following the first rule of development? BACKUP.
Every time I make a series of successful changes and think that's enough to potentially lose, a file with that date is saved, as in myDb02202019 and things go on from there.
You may have gotten rid of the messages by inadvertently saving changes you made by closing the db. Switching to form view after making changes doesn't mesh your changes with what's already been loaded and maybe that's what was going on.
