find and replace .wmf with .png sees entire file path replaced !

    Hi,

    File Path is D:\ACCESS PICS\Mkgs400%AsWMF\YOBK 1A.WMF
I am now using png as wmf access wont display any more those created with Freehand7 or Illustrator conversion of them, only powerpoint made from scratch or Affinity Designer exports of them, but too many to go resaving each one in AD.

I need to alter the path replacing the two instances of letters WMF with Png

In table, I click on header of the field, click on the replace tool , in find I typed WMF and it found nothing, so try again Find *WMF* replace with Png and it replaces the entire path with just Png !

what am I doing wrong ?

Replace wmf with png works for me.

Make sure you haven't double clicked into the column header. But really don't need to click header. Just click in field.

I have settings Look in Current Field
    match any part of field.

    is that correct ?

The find tab is empty the replace tab has 'find what' *WMF*
    'replace with' Png

I again click on a record, go next and hit replace and the entire path gets changed for png.

Must get this sorted else 500 manual edits to do.

    Don't use *WMF*, just wmf.

    Hi,
Initially wmf said not found, sp opted for *wmf* however wondering if *wmf* was cause I removed * and it worked this time, after I was done, I see you say that as well.
