    Edit MDB with Access 2016

I have an old program here at work that uses an MDB file to store data that is used internally in the program . It is possible for me to edit this data from within that program, but it is a very slow and clunky process. It would be a lot easier to just open the MDB file and edit the records that I want to change. Unfortunately with our Office subscription we have Access 2016. Do I have any options for editing the MDB file?

Yes , all old db (.mdb) can be used with new versions of Access.
I still use them with Access 2016.

To be more precise, it will depend on which MDB format was used.
A2000 or later MDB files can be opened / edited in A2016.
A97 files cannot be opened at all.

If you can open the file, you can also Save As .... ACCDB... but it won't dramatically speed things up!

I believe it is a '97 format file. When I attempt to open it I get an error saying I can't open a file created in a previous version of Access. I did find a freeware MDB editor/viewer that is allowing me to edit the the database; it isn't perfect, but its much faster so far than trying to modify it all through the parent application.

You can open/edit A97 files if you (or a friend) have a copy of Access 2007 or 2010. You will then be able to convert to ACCDB.
If not, I can do it for you but if there are any complications, I would need to charge for my time.
If you want to follow that up, email me using the link in my signature line.
