Can't import frx file.

I have a macro that I can't seem to bring into Access, though I suspect it's more of a generic error I'm still hoping someone can assist.
When I try to import an frx file I get the error is simply that it "Could not be loaded" and nothing else.
Log files shows this
Line 2: Class {C62A69F0-16DC-11CE-9E98-00AA00574A4F} of control OrientedDiskPlot_Ver4 was not a loaded control class.
Line 0: The file C:...\OrientedDiskPlot_Ver4.frm could not be loaded.
Any help would be appreciated.

Can you tell us more about frx file -- the who, what, where, how sort of stuff?

Should I be able to view the contents in notepad? Because when I try to view the text it's totally scrambled.

I think the file in question is for VB not VBA. Seems it's like .dll files that store multiple icons that can only be retrieved via code or an application interface.

This is a VB3.0 program. Thank you for pointing out the difference! That is new to me.
Is it possible my issue is most V3.0 programs cannot run on 64 bit windows? I have no idea how to fix that. VB3.0 can't even import the frx.

VB 3.0 was released in 1993 for use on Windows 3.1 https://winworldpc.com/product/microsoft-visual-bas/30.
Is my memory correct in thinking Win 3.1 was 16-bit?
There is I would suggest ZERO chance of it running in 64-bit Windows. It may not even run in 32-bit
Its so long since I've used VB, I can't remember what the frx file does

If is really that important to you, suggest you download a powerful text editor like Notepad++ and try and view it in that.
If you succeed, try and save as a standard text file .txt
Then try and import that into Access if the format is structured in a way that looks viable.
However I very much doubt it will work
If that fails, consider installing a 32-bit virtual machine running Win 3.1 and an old version of VB!

I can read things within that like cbo (combo), label, opt (option group) and other form components/font info etc.
The rest is 'padding' needed for that file format to work in its original environment
You would see similar info if you looked at an ACCDB/MDB file in Notepad
There is also reference to Microsoft Forms 2.0 Frame which is an ActiveX form control you can use in Access
Have you tried converting the encoding type from ANSI to Unicode or UTF-8?
There may be a REMOTE chance of importing this into Access as text in order to convert to an Access form but I don't have the knowledge to tell you how to do so. Someone else may know more than I do
For info I managed to copy what you posted, save it as a text file and import it into Access as a table (with errors) - see attached
Whether that will help you at all is another matter
What does it contain that is so important some 20 years on?

Sorry I have no replied. I am pretty stonewalled with this and have been trying to find time to come back to work on it.
I have spent about 30 minutes trying to decipher it in Notepad ++ several different ways with no luck. Thank you for the info on the 'padding'. That makes sense to me.
It works with an access database and modelling software to generate something called a 'diskplot' which would be quite boring for you if I were to explain it.
I will be sure to update this thread if I find a solution, but I fear the age of VB3.0 means I will be SOL. The strange thing is that it occasionally runs on an earlier version of the modelling program (that runs on an Access DB) however there is nothing to suggest that the issue is with the program since I can't even import it to VB.

It is a VB form, you will need to re-create it in Access. To open it in VB you can try any (older) versions of Visual Studio.

I have downloaded VB 2008 (it's supposed to work with my original frx file but does not).
When I open the provided string editor project, cls, and form, they just open in different tabs and I have no idea how to actually run it. Completely a fish out of water with this stuff.

It looks like is a script in powerbasic, not familiar with that. I think you best bet is still VB 2008. Did you get any errors?
