Move the label but not the textbox

I understand that I can move a textbox's associated label with the mouse by clicking on the label's little box at the upper left of the label. But it is difficult to make small adjustments with the mouse.

How can I select just the label and move it with the arrow keys? That is, move the label with arrow keys while the textbox does not move?

disconnect the label from the text box,

select the label only (not textbox),press shift-delete key (cut)
    select the form , paste
now put the label where you want, and you can use arrow keys

arrow keys will work on attached label in layout view, but ctrl + arrow will not
Then there is the ability to drag (for example the left) border to where you want. Then shift arrow will resize as it normally does incrementally. This would be shift + left arrow to move the right border incrementally

if you are trying to line up to another control, copy/paste the other controls left and/or top properties to the label

Thank you Ajax. I understand how to use the properties to align controls.

What prompted my inquiry was placing a new control on a form usually results in the associated label being off to the left. I like the label spaced closer to the control and was looking for a way to easily slide the label to the right, adjacent to the control. That's why I was hoping to be able to select just the label and move it with the right arrow key. As described in this thread, there are ways to get it done but with more steps. Guess I'll live with it
