What has MS done with an update this time?

    Hi all -

Running Office 365 on Windows 10

MS seems to have really messed up an update. Whenever I maximize an object on the screen, the top header bar disappears, and there doesn't seem to be any way to get it back. And, since that header bar includes the minimize, maximize/restore and (most importantly) the close buttons, once an object is maximized, I'm stuck - the only way to close it is Ctrl-F4.

The right-click popup menu sometimes contains a close option, but usually not.

Am I missing something here? This behaviour is a real pain - surely MS didn't do that intentionally. Does anyone know how this can be fixed, or prevented from happening?

    Thanks.

    John

Not sure the cause, though a recent update wouldn't surprise me. They seem to regularly break something. You should be able to hover over the icon in the taskbar then right-click on the resulting popup. That gives me options various options to move, minimize, maximize, etc.

What is the version build number for your Access 365 that's causing issues for you?

Paul - there is a Close option there, but it closes the whole application, not the current window.

Colin: It is Version 1810 (Build 11001.20071 Click-to-Run)

    Thanks.

I was thinking of Move, which should let you use the arrow keys to move the window down and expose the top bar. Or maybe minimize, and then perhaps maximize gives you a workable window.

I did have v1810 but now on 1811. I know of nothing in your version that could explain the issue. Try an Office repair or reinstall if Paul's suggestions don't solve it.

I still don't know what the cause was, but I did find a very easy solution. All I had to do was add the "Restore" command to the quick access toolbar. The Restore becomes active whenever I do a maximize, and all I need to do to close whatever window I'm in is click the Restore, and then close as normal. Easy.

    Thanks for your ideas.
