average in a report error message.

Just when you solve one issue another jumps up at you. I am trying to average in my weekly report with little success.

In my footer i created a text box and entered = AVG([avgofperformance]) where avgofperformance is my field name, The only thing I can think of that is messing with it is that these figures are already averages of individual task.

The associate would do work all day and get a performance score for every task they perform. Those individual scores are then averaged together to get a daily average. With my weekly report I am taking all the daily averages and trying to create a weekly average.

when you open the db click on the weekly report in the reports section. You will be prompted to enter a name. please enter Banta, Ron. You will then be asked for date range. 10/9 - 10/12 is the start and end dates. You will then see what I am looking at.

Any thoughts about what is going on?

    you cant avg averages.
make a query to calculate avg using a date range on a form.
    the textboxes: txtStartDate, txtEndDate

the query uses the dates for: weekly or daily, or monthly

Yet another reason excell is better than access. an average of two or more percentages is still just a number. How that number is calculated should not effect how it is handled by other calculations. It should be a simple matter to take a weeks worth of daily averages and calculate the weekly average without having to create a more queries and jump through hoops. There has to be an easy work around for this.

Is avgofperformance a field in the underlying query? It would have to be. If it's calculated on the report, you'd have to use the calculation, not the textbox name. Also make sure you're in the report footer, not the page footer.

    Can't test as there's a missing function.
