You should be filtering forms ,rather than reports.

But how does the first report work with the filter ?
Yes in certain cases query does have calculation. But not in the field indicated above
Provide the RecordSource sql statement. Might need to review db to analyze issue. If you want to provide, follow instructions at bottom of my post.

error can be caused if your data has single or double quotes in it, so recommend you check your vendor name records
It would error if name has apostrophe like O'Conner if building WHERE criteria with VBA, but filtering with intrinsic Access tools will not error.
