Oh okay and I see you have another thread going on the same subject. Perhaps you stick to one thread it will be less confusing that way.

I really appreciate your guys help and I know you have better things to do than to just help me but I am doing the best I can with this.
If you look at the topics of the two threads you mentioned,m they are for two totally separate issues but both kind of morphed into the same topic. I was trying to go faster than I should have and everyone on both threads told me to slow down and make sure one part of the process is finished before we move to the next. I even closed one thread but people kept posting on it so I opened back up. Sorry for any confusion.

Isn't a lookup table by default an index?
    no
right now I am only using them to populate my drop down lookup fields on my data entry form.
they are in your table - at least in the last db you uploaded. Remove them from your table - here's why
    http://access.mvps.org/access/lookupfields.htm

And then you will see why your fields are misnamed.

If you are going to develop a database, you need consistency. You are getting there, but not there yet and is one of the reasons you are struggling to move forward

So, remove the combo box lookup fields but leave the lookup tables. I worry that data entry will become problematic sincs the lookup tables create an ID for the value and then the data entry guy will have to remember what that value is. If I understand correctly (which I prolly dont).
Lookup table is like this. Task list- taskID (autonumber) "1". Task code "AW". Data entry guy has to remember that 1 is for AW instead of just using AW. Am I wrong?

Correct, you are wrong . Build combobox on form instead of building lookup in table.

And you aren't removing field, just the combobox lookup settings on that field. On second thought, might be better to delete and replace. Fields set up as lookup type create relationships that don't seem to go away even if you remove the combobox settings.

I am going to close this thread and just work with the other one in Forms. Please look at that thread for any future activity.
