Brightness/Contrast Message on Screen does not respond to mouse or keyboard

A box message appears on screen saying Exit, Brightness and Contrast in words, with Icons showing man in door, sun ad half white, half black circle. I cannot use the mouse on this box, or any combination of keys that I have thought of to make this box go away. There are three buttons on the on the bottom of the monitor which affect it somewhat but I still can't make the box go away. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Sounds like the monitor itself. I'd expect a button to select one of those items and another to enter that selection. See if you can select Exit and then hit the other button. My "monitor" is actually a TV, so I've got different buttons than a normal monitor would, plus different brands have different buttons. If you don't see it right off, search for instructions on your monitor make/model.

    Thanls Paul for your suggestions

    I found these instructions:
    Power off the PC
    Power off the monitor
Disconnect the power cord from the monitor
Disconnect all monitor cords from the PC (USB, DVI, VGA, DISPLAYPORT<hdmi, ETC)
While disconnected, press and hold the monitor power button down for 5 seconds
Reconnect the DVI cord to the monitor and to the PC video card
Reconnect the power cord to the monitor
Power on the monitor if it does not power on by itself
    Power on the PC
??Press the monitor Input Source Select button and Choose DVI. What happens?

Not sure about the last instruction.

This has worked for me so far.

That seems like overkill for the screen you describe, but I'm glad it worked for you.
