    Access can't create ADE database

I get this on occasion but then I do a compile in debug, make the corrections and then it creates the ADE ok.

This time I did have an error I corrected, re-ran the debug|compile which returns no more errors but I still says it can't create the ADE file.

Any ideas of what is going on?

Did you try writing it to a new random name? (for the test)
did you try writing it to the desktop?

(you can always use the Accdb)

Yes - I tried different names, locations and even on a different computer.

I was trying to convert it to accdp but the Database File Types button is ghosted. Properties on the DB says it's ADP. Shouldn't I be able to convert it?

Now you're confusing me. There's no such thing as an ACCDP file. I thought from the thread at UA that you wanted to convert ADP to ADE.

Sorry for the confusion. I want to compile my adp into and ade and it won't let me. I've done it for years but now none of my files will compile (Office update maybe?). It appears that the ADP file format is no longer supported and in some ones previous post it appeared they suggested converting to a newer file format (accdb, typo my fault) and possibly try to convert to a compiled executable from there. Can't figure out how to do that successfully.

To try another angle - I created another blank database with my sql database connection and tried importing forms, modules, etc with the hope of being able to compile that but apparently there are some things that don't get imported like command bars, etc which is a problem.

If you can stil open the ADP in A2010 you should be able to save as ACCDB.
Then you'll need to relink to SQL tables and check functionality
Once you know its OK, then resave as ACCDE.

But this is surmise. I've never done it myself though it's what MS recommends prior to upgrading to A2013 https://support.office.com/en-us/art...D-9A2DFEF68E2F

Thanks. I've followed instructions to convert it by selecting the database type and save it. Very simple. But the database types button is ghosted so I've been trying to research reasons why it would be ghosted.

I’d like to except the application as access to sensitive data in my business.

I meant with all sensitive data removed.
If that's impossible, you will have to hope that Grover Park George at UA is able to find someone with current expertise in the use of ADPs.
See post 14 in your other thread: http://www.utteraccess.com/forum/ind...ic=2050329&hl=

For those who are unaware, there are also lots of answers there.

If you read the link I gave earlier, cross posting isn't the issue.
However doing so without informing each forum and providing the link does matter because people waste time.

Similarly as you now have a solution (see UA thread) , it is courteous to tell people at this site also.
