Designing Tables - Some Clients have a Patron but others do not

    Hello,

I do not know what is the best practice to design the tables for the following application.

The application is about a service providing company. Clients come in two flavors:

    1) some clients are individuals who are paying themselves for the cost of services
    2) for some other clients a patron does the payment on behalf of a group of clients (the services are provided to the members of the group of clients, not to the patron)

    Thank you in advance.

You might consider the following model a s a starting point where the Client could be an Individual or Group, and the Purchaser (Patron) would be an Individual. The group table would identify Individuals in the Group. You would need to add details to the tables eg. DateOfService, Client details etc.
    Service Cost...
    Good luck.

PS: You can ignore the Integer NN stuff in the boxes ---it was part of the software I used to make the model. Only the sample names and the PK, PFK,FK are relevant to my post.
