    Hi Steve,

    Name and Date are reserved words as per Allen Browne's list.
    How did you interpret the last line as in post 14?

    @orange

    Assignment Purpose: create a traffic ticket database

    This are the instructions:

    • Create at least 5 unique motorist records.
    • Create at least 8 traffic ticket records. One motorist may have more than one traffic ticket.

    My assumption: Each motorist will have at least 1 ticket. Therefore, the "Invoices" query will have minimum of 5 unique (motorist) records.

    Given the full instructions (from Post #1), this is a terrible assignment on how to design tables/relationships.
    I would never design a dB using those instructions. (So many wrong concepts)

    Steve,
    I agree with you re the design approach. We really don't know the course level nor intended audience.
    Perhaps you're correct that each motorist has at least 1 ticket - I didn't read it that way - but see how that could be the intent.

    This may be a first assignment sort of thing and more, better design details and concepts will evolve (hopefully).
    I can think of several youtube videos and articles that could do a better intro and approach, but the OP is learning and has joined the forum. Asking questions here should complement his course.

    Hey guys thanks for all the insightful information on the assignment, to shed some light this assignment is for a college level course BA degree program in Business Supervision and Management, the actual class is ISM4011 which is information management systems and to be clear this is the only assignment in the whole course that asks me to create a database, after this I will not see it again however I actually like the software and will continue to learn it on my own.

    In addition this is the closest I could get to what I understand they are asking of the Query requirement.

    Looks on the mark to me.
    How to attach file: http://www.accessforums.net/showthread.php?t=70301 To provide db: copy, remove confidential data, run compact & repair, zip w/Windows Compression.
