    Renaming Rowsourced Table Data

    Hello Forum,

I have fields that is rowsourced from another table data. I want to rename the the data from that table; thus changing the already existing data to that name. For example; existing data field "Pole Inspection" to new "Pole Installation Inspection". When I try changing the rowsourced table, it does not change the fields. I have to go and click into it to change it. The fields are allowed "multiple" selections; Could this be why it does not change automatically?

    Thanks,

    Raymond

The "rowsource" property refers to a combobox or listbox, so below makes no sense.

This kind of implies a listbox. Is that what it is? Perhaps you could reword your request or show us some pictures.

Picture 1 is the rowsourced table. The main table (existing data) is on the second picture. I want to change the "Pole Installation Inspection" to just "Pole Inspection"; I do this by changing the first table (Picture 1) to "Pole Inspection"; however, that does not work because I have to reselect the field in the main table because it's allowed to have multiple fields in there. Thoughts?

I basically have to click on that field again to "untick Pole Installation Inspection" and "tick Pole Inspection". A bit of a headache to do with hundreds of these.

One of the many problems using a MVF (multi-value field).

Whether or not you use multi-value field, you are saving the descriptive text, not a linking key. Which means changes to text in the source table will not be reflected in the data table.

I never use MVF, however, MVF is not really the main cause in this case. Even if you used a normal field you would experience same issue of edited source table text not reflecting in the data table. Although with a normal field you could run a simple UPDATE sql to fix the data. Not so simple with MVF.
