Pivot Table Grouping from linked Access

I have multiple Pivot Tables/Charts in Excel 2016 linked to my Access 2016 table. I want the Pivots to have separate cache so that I can apply different groupings to product categories and date ranges. Pretty straightforward I have watched this video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=di_-50Dsuvw), but when choosing the external data source option form the drop down menu it comes up with a blank list of files to choose from even when I change the file type to dBASE files or MS Access Database. Any ideas what I might be missing?

you pulled in the linked data into sheet?
made pivot 1, then began a 2nd pivot with the 'non cache' data using Ctl-D,P?
