    text tab delimited

    Hi! am new to access and am trying to export a query to a text file (note pad) tab delimited. is there a command i can use to do this? if not, am trying the external data navigation pane, and it doesnt give me the option on choosing if its a fixed with or a delimited. thanks!

    wouldn't think it has been dropped in 2016 - it should be there unless you have selected to 'Export Data with formatting'

    thanks. i was selecting export data with formatting. now its working. just wondering if there is a vba code i could use to just click a button. thanks again!

    Pretty sure someone asked this 2 or 3 days ago, so you might find a detailed answer already. If it wasn't here, it was at Mr.Excel forum.

    I just recalled it was about saving all of the export specification properties except the file name was to be a variable.

    Just double checked - you definitely can still choose tab separated when exporting text files in A2016 (though personally I think comma separated is better).
    As ajax has already stated, you won't get any options with you select export data with formatting as Access is then making the decisions for you
