    Importing XML & Field Names

    Hi all,

It only took me 3 weeks learning but I finally made it so I can import XML from an API. I have no control over the field names that import. It is pretty much field1, field2, ect... However, they never change so I know that field1 will always be a first name, field2 will always be last name, ect...

How can I be able to change those field names quickly? I don't want to do it manually since I regularly import new data and the field names have to match. I can make all my forms and reports and just change the label to what I need but I feel like I want to be able to create that stuff on the fly. Someone mentioned mapping to me but my searches have turned up nothing. I also heard append query but I keep getting errors with that.

I would very much appreciate a few words of encouragement and a wee bit of help. Thank you!!

Have you tried importing to a buffer table then using an append query based on that so you control the field names used

Further to ridders suggestion, you might want to show us a sample of your data and your desired output.
