    Room Booking System

As a new user to Access, I'm still getting to grips with it all.

I am required to design and deploy a system that enables a user to book 1 of 6 rooms at certain times for varying periods of time.
I would like the user to see some sort of timetable, showing what rooms are booked and for how long.
What would be the best way to approach this task & lay it out?

Any help is much appreciated, many thanks

    youd have the tRooms table
    tClients table
    then tBookings table
a tTimeGrid table, to show every time ,every hour. (for users to see the grid)

    the tBookings would have
    ClientID
    RoomID
    StartDate
    EndDate
    Notes

you would then build forms to show
    1 person, all rooms booked,

    1 room, all bookings/times

    1 Day, all rooms/times

it would probly be best to view via Crosstab queries rather than forms.

Sounds like homework. I'd also consider:

When I book, am I booking a particular room, or not?
With rooms, two reservations can overlap on the turnover date. Your last day in room 3 can also be my first day.

I've seen this same type of db discussed in other threads. Might search forum.

    For starters:

    https://www.accessforums.net/showthread.php?t=66956

    https://www.accessforums.net/showthread.php?t=49891
How to attach file: http://www.accessforums.net/showthread.php?t=70301 To provide db: copy, remove confidential data, run compact & repair, zip w/Windows Compression.

Please reply to this thread with any new information or opinions.
