MS Access 2010 Runtime Program Location

I installed Microsoft Access 2010 runtime on my computer. It shows up as "Microsoft Access Database Engine 2010 (English)" on Control Panel/ Programs And Features. But when I search for it in explorer I have not been able to find it trying various searches including "MSAccess.exe", "Microsoft Access Database Engine 2010 (English)", and anything else I could think of. What am I doing wrong? Or better yet, how do I execute the program? Thank you for any suggestions you are kind enough to offer. .............Phil Hoop

It sounds like you installed the ACE engine, not the runtime version of Access. I just installed the runtime on a new PC (Win7 Pro) and the msaccess.exe is in:

    C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Office14\

In Programs is shows up as

    Microsoft Access Runtime 2010

OK. How should I install the program? I doenloaded "AccessRuntime_x64,exe" and burned it to a cd, inserted the cd in the drive of the computer I wanted it installed, and clicked the exe, and it appeared to install. What should I have done? .......Phil Hoop

Sounds okay, but I've never used the 64bit version. The consensus seems to be that the 64bit version of Access doesn't really gain you anything, and causes grief with API's and such (more accurately, requires some hoops be jumped through). If you've got it installed, you should be able to double click on an accdb/accde file. Since it has no design capability, there's no point in running it directly.

PBaldy: Thanks for the reply. However, I need Access 2010 Runtime for my client and I am developing on a machine that has Access 2007 and when I try to test the 2010.accdb on my development machine, the Access 2007 opens instead of the runtime. Any ideas? ....................Phil Hoop
