new MSOFFICE 365 - security problems

I'm having a problem securing my backend tables on the new MSOFFICE 365

long story short i had to upgrade my OFFICE2010 with the new MSOFFICE 365
as a result there have been security problems.

I have 1 laptop with 365 installed which has the full version of ACCESS. this is the laptop i do my programming from.

I have 2 other workstations that i also needed to upgrade to 365. I have been told that i can no longer choose to NOT INSTALL MSACCESS . it is automatically installed as soon as you agree to install 365.

I used to have the other workstations run my MSAccess program (front end) with MSRUNTIME which worked perfectly for many years. I would link the front end to the backend on my laptop and then install the front end on the other workstations and it would run perfectly. Note each workstation now has MSACCESS which means the users can pop open the tab and copy/paste my sensitive tables without anyone knowing.

First question - is there a way to install 365 WITHOUT ACCESS and run MSRUNTIME off those computers like i used to with MSRUNTIME?
Second question - if not how are we to secure our data if we have to run the Front end of our applications on computers that have access to the backend tables like this?

    Thanks,

AFAIK you can install Office 365 and not install Access or any other component.

However, I would make your FE databases more secure by various methods including
    1. Distribute the FE as an ACCDE so the code isn't accessible
    2. Hide the ribbon
    3. Hide the navigation pane

That's not by any means a complete list. It all depends on how secure you want it to be

I can't comment on the first question. As for the second, I always linked the be tables with a password. Yes, it can be exposed if you know how and someone else in a similar capacity as you should know the password in case one or the other is no longer employed there. Nothing about Access is bullet proof AFAIk, but you can do some things to keep the uniformed nosy people out of the be data. It will never be as secure as the least secure executable application, but in concert, there are several actions you can employ.
