Passing embedded report criteria to a query

    Hi

Apologies if this should be in the queries thread.

I have created a report with a command button to open a query, with a field in the report as a criterion for the query. This all works fine.

However, when I insert that report into a form, the command button still opens the query, but the criterion is not passed through, so the query returns all results instead of specific ones.

Is there something I'm missing? A fundamental difference between stand-alone reports and those embedded in forms?

    Thank you for your help

    Bob

you seem to be doing it backwards.
Reports should not be embedded in forms. Reports stand alone. A button on the form can open the report or a query.
'embedding' a report in a form may change the path which causes the failure.

    Hey Ranman

Thanks for looking into it this.

It's a shame that the embedding causes trouble as I'm designing a database for others to use and inserting reports into forms provides much better formatting options than inserting queries or datasheet sub-forms (specifically the big, friendly buttons you can put in).

I'll keep poking it and see if I can find a workaround...

    Ta
