    Audit Trail for multiple tables

    Hello All,

I have set up a table "tblAuditTrail" that successfully tracks changes to fields in multiple tables (well...really the forms), and notes the Primary Key for the field that is being changed.

However, there are instances where the Primary Key (Permit Number for instance) will change. However, to my knowledge, I cant cascade update the Primary Key from multiple tables to tblAuditTrail.

There are two solutions that I can think of, and I was hoping someone could recommend one of these or suggest another:

    1. Change the Primary Key for the tables from the Permit Number to a standard ID. (the audit trail keeps track of the form the changes came from, however the forms are set up to pull from other tables via the Permit Number).

    2. Create an individual audit trail for each table group.

Thanks in advance for your help.
