How to setup a small database

    Hello All,

I want to create a small database with Access to help my sister manage her daily sales in her shop. She sells soft drinks. She will be adding to the stock with time. Now what I wanna do to help her is to let her track number of items left in Stock, daily ssales, weekly sales , monthly and then annual sales. I have setup a table to contain the list of items available in am about to take the next step of creating a new table for the daily transactions. But I think I need some advice and guides here before I hit the enter key. Thanks in advance .

If you haven't already, should get an introductory tutorial book and learn the basics of relational database principles, Access functionality, programming concepts, and macro and VBA coding. Might also look at the MS Access Northwind database template. It is used for many tutorials and might be adaptable for your needs.

You may get some ideas for planning and designing a database from the links in this post.
Make a plan; and a clear description of the "business" you are trying automate, before jumping into physical Access.

Also, you may get some insight from a few of the free youtube videos by BA-Experts re analysis and design. (like this)

    Good luck.

Which version did you download? I downloaded via the link the db library: File > New > Business > Northwind 2007
