Adding Simple Calcs to Access Report

    Hi,

I would like to add a simple calculation to my reports. My charts are bar graphs (example in attachment) showing quarterly values and I am trying to figure out how to add a table to the report which shows sequential variance (current quarter value - previous quarter value) and year over year variance. I'm sure there is a way to query the specific data elements to do the calcs but am struggling with the syntax. Any help is appreciated.

Also, Sep is blank b/c I haven't received the data yet.

If I understand what you mean by 'sequential variance', not really so simple in a query. Review: http://allenbrowne.com/subquery-01.html#AnotherRecord

However, possibly RunningSum textbox property can provide what you want very simply. This property is only available on report.

Might want to consider a secondary axis on the chart itself, plotting the differential on the secondary and showing the value labels for the actual number. I can't envision a running sum control lining up with the chart columns, which is what I presume you'd want. Then again, I always struggled with complex charts. Usually got what I wanted - after a lot of Googling.
