I am trying to create a report and the data is not coming out in the proper sequence. I have a table that has a field that places the entries into 1 of various categories. The user will select a category from a combo box that they want on their report. The data is then to be sorted into ascending order based on a description field. The report show the correct data for the selected category, but the records are not sorted by description. They appear in a random order.
I have tried the following:
- Had the report use a query with ascending on the description field.
- Created a new table with only the fields to be reported. The description field is defined as the unique key field. After running the report, I looked at the contents of the table and it is in ascending order by the description field.
It didn't matter because in both cases the data printed in a random order. Both reports had the records in the same order. The first letter of each description in the order printed is:
S, B, B, C, G, I, O, R, S, S, S, A, S, Z, S, S, S, T, T, T, V, V, W, W, W, S
None of the fields on the report would cause them to be sorted in the order in which they are appearing.
I am using Access 2007
