    Question I'd like to understand why this access file is so big

    Hi,

    A developer sent me an access file he coded to convert automatically csv files to access files.
    I have had issues with virus and security lately, so I pay more attention now to the content of the files I use.
    Also, I like to understand why things are as they are...

    In this access file, I can only see code modules in the access file, with apparently no data, but this file is 91 MB big. So I find this strange but I am not a developer and my knowledge about access is very small.

    When I ask about this to the developer, he just says : "Actually the codes have been modified and quiet a few additions are made in all the modules plus one new module has been added.thats why the files are big"

    I don't think there's any virus in this case (I have submitted this file to several security tools and it seems ok), but I'd like to understand what requires so much disk space in this file.

    If anyone who understands how an access file is built can have a look and explain me, that would be cool...

    Thank you,

    Nick

    You have not done a Compact and Repair on the file yet.

    no.
    I just did it -> 400kb

    I don't understand :
    what does it mean?
    was it full of air?
    Why did the developer upload a 91MB he had to zip because it was to big, whereas it could be reduced to 400kb in a few seconds just by compacting it?

    you'll have to ask him.

    You might find if you decompile, it will get even smaller
