    Question Image not showing up as transparent in Print Preview

    I'm trying to add an image with a transparent background to a report, using a link to the image file in one of the fields of my table. This way the image can change based on the record that is being printed on the report.

    The image is showing up on the report, and when I am looking at it in Report View and Layout View, the background is transparent just as it should be. However, when I switch to Print Preview, the background is no longer transparent. I cannot for the life of me figure out why. I have the Back Style set to Transparent, and the Back Color is set to No Color.

    I tried printing the report, just for the heck of it, and on the printed version, it's also not transparent. I'm at a loss. Any ideas?

    If memory serves, I think my image file did not actually have a fully transparent background. Once I figured out how to make it completely transparent, the problem was gone.

    To make it transparent, I believe I first brought it into XNview and did the following:

    • Image -> Convert to Binary (No Dither)
    • Image -> Convert to Colours… (then hit Apply when menu pops up)
    • Image -> Edit Palette
      • Select White and make sure the Enable Transparency box is checked, then hit OK.
      • Background should change to transparent.

    • Save image

    This is from my notes, but I haven't actually done any of this for close to a year now, so I can't swear that it will solve the issue.

    I followed the directions and Access still doesn't print the image as transparent. I wrote a quick html page to test each of my images for transparency. I have a blue background and all of the pictures. 5 of the 9 images are transparent. I tried all 5 that worked and Access always prints as if the picture is not transparent. The report on the screen shows correctly, but the print preview and hard copy are blocked out.

    Are you using an Image control? Is the BackStyle property set to transparent? Nevermind. I now see in your post you did that. Might provide one of the images for testing.
