How to implement academic session in access grades database

I am still a newbie in access database.
I have a grade database which stores student grades in various subjects termly (for three terms which mark the end of a session). Though termly grades summary are printed. The problem i have now is how to implement change in academic session and still keep the history or record of the student at the end of a session. I am effecting promotion to the next class
